Questions, answered properly
If your question isn't here, ask us — we add the good ones to this page.
What is KitchenCompare? Using KitchenCompare
KitchenCompare is an independent price-comparison site for commercial kitchen equipment in Australia. We track products from Australian retailers and match their public listings to a single supplier-backed catalogue, so you can see the market for a machine in one place — current prices, specifications and price history.
We don't sell equipment, hold stock or process payments. When you're ready to buy, you deal directly with the retailer. Read more about us and how it works.
Is KitchenCompare free to use? Using KitchenCompare
Yes. Comparing prices is free and requires no sign-up or account. Retailers can pay for optional profile features and clearly labelled placements, but that never changes what you see in a comparison — comparison tables are always ordered by price.
How do I find a product? Using KitchenCompare
Use the search bar to search by product name, brand or — most reliably — the manufacturer's model number or SKU. You can also browse by department, brand or retailer, and filter category pages by brand, price and specification.
If you know the exact model number, searching for it will take you straight to that machine's comparison.
What does a "Similar item" image mean? Using KitchenCompare
When we don't hold photography for the exact product, we may show a stand-in photo of a similar item from the same catalogue — always labelled "Similar item" so you know the picture is not the exact machine. The specifications, model number and prices on the page always belong to the exact product listed, never to the stand-in. When in doubt, rely on the model number, and confirm details with the retailer before purchasing.
Can I buy through KitchenCompare, and is stock live? Using KitchenCompare
No — this website doesn't sell products or process payments. Purchases happen on the retailer's own site: each offer links you directly to the retailer's listing.
Stock status is not a live inventory feed either. Any stock indication reflects the retailer's listing at our last check, so confirm availability, delivery, freight charges, warranty and trading terms directly with the retailer before you buy.
Where do the prices come from? Prices & data
Prices come from the public product listings of Australian commercial kitchen equipment retailers. We collect those listings periodically and match each one to our catalogue using the manufacturer's exact model number or SKU. Product identity — brand, model number, name and specifications — comes from manufacturer and supplier information, not from retailer listings.
The retailer's own website is always the authoritative source: prices can change after our last check, so confirm the final price, availability and freight with the retailer. See our retailer disclaimer.
How often are prices updated? Prices & data
Prices are refreshed in periodic collection runs rather than live. Each listing shows the date it was last checked, and every collection run also snapshots prices into the history that powers the price-history charts.
Because prices can change at any time after our last check, always treat a comparison as a guide to the market and confirm the current price directly with the retailer before you buy.
Do prices include GST? Prices & data
Yes. Retailers list prices differently — some include GST, some don't, and smallwares are often priced per pack rather than per unit. We normalise everything to AUD including GST, per unit before comparing, so every figure you see is on the same basis. Statistical outliers that look like data errors are excluded from the summary figures. See how it works.
How does model-number matching work? Prices & data
Every comparison is matched on the manufacturer's exact model number or SKU. There is no fuzzy matching: if a retailer listing's code doesn't match the catalogue exactly, it is not compared. That means two prices shown side by side are always for the same machine — not a neighbouring capacity, last year's revision or a different power connection wearing a similar name.
We've written more about why this matters in Why model numbers matter.
How do you know a price drop is genuine? Prices & data
Every collection run snapshots prices into a tracked history for each listing. A price drop is only shown when the current price is genuinely lower than that tracked history — not when a listing simply displays a manufactured "was" price. Small movements and anomalies that look like data errors are filtered out rather than promoted as deals.
Can retailers pay to rank higher? Retailers & listings
No — never. Comparison tables are ordered by price only, and we don't accept payment to alter rankings. Retailers on paid plans get profile features and placements that are always clearly labelled as sponsored, and those placements sit outside the comparison table — they cannot move a retailer up a comparison.
I'm a retailer — how do I claim my listings? Retailers & listings
If your business's listings are already tracked on KitchenCompare, you can create a free account and claim your dealership. Every claim is reviewed by a person before it goes live — we verify that you represent the business you're claiming. Claiming is free; paid plans add an enhanced profile, enquiries and analytics, and are described on the plans page.
Inclusion on the site does not imply endorsement in either direction, and claiming your business never changes your position in a comparison — tables stay ordered by price.
How do I report a wrong price or listing? Retailers & listings
Use the contact form and choose "A product listing or price correction" as the topic, telling us the product (ideally its model number), the retailer and what looks wrong. We review every report.
Bear in mind that prices are collected periodically, so a difference can simply mean the retailer changed their price after our last check — the retailer's website is always the authoritative source.
