01What this policy covers
What we collect, why, and how to get it deleted.
This policy explains how KitchenCompare collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information, and how we handle it under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
KitchenCompare is operated by DonutLabs Digital Marketing, ABN 98 049 751 815.
It applies to this website and any enquiry you submit through it. It does not cover the sites of retailers, suppliers or brokers we link to — each has its own policy and its own obligations.
02Information we collect
Your name and contact details when you send an enquiry, plus consent-based usage data.
We collect only what we need to answer you and to operate the site.
- Contact details you submit: name, email, phone, business name.
- Enquiry content: your message, and the model or retailer it concerns.
- Finance enquiry details: your name, mobile, email, business name and any comment you add.
- Product reviews and article pitches you submit, including your contact email.
- Technical data: pages viewed and searches run. Our first-party records use a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics also processes device, browser, page and interaction data.
- A cookie to keep your session when you sign in to a business portal.
03What we never collect
No credit checks, no bank details, no tracking pixels sold to third parties.
We do not run credit checks, request bank details, or take payment on this site. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to any third party for marketing.
04How we use your information
To answer you, to pass an enquiry to the business you chose, and to improve the site.
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, to pass a product enquiry to the specific dealer you selected on the form, to pass a general quote request to Australian retailers or suppliers who can quote on it, to pass a finance enquiry to a finance broker where you have asked us to, to improve our matching and comparison data, and to meet legal obligations.
Businesses that receive enquiries pay us for a KitchenCompare membership, and only members can receive them. That payment never affects the comparison — ranking is computed from price data alone and has no access to enquiry records.
We do not use your enquiry to influence what you see. Ranking is computed from price data alone and has no access to enquiry records.
05Disclosure to third parties
Only the business you chose, plus our hosting and email providers.
Where you select a dealer or supplier on an enquiry form, we disclose your enquiry only to that business. Where you send a general quote request, we disclose it to the Australian retailers or suppliers we ask to quote on it. Where you submit a finance enquiry, we disclose it to a finance broker. We also disclose personal information to the service providers that host our site, and where required by law.
Our own application servers are located in Australia. When Google measurement tags run, Google may process measurement data in Australia and overseas, including in the United States, under Google's own privacy and data-protection terms. Once an enquiry reaches another business, their handling is governed by their own privacy policy. Under our Terms, those businesses may contact you about your enquiry but must not add you to marketing or SMS lists without your separate consent.
You can ask us who received a particular enquiry by emailing privacy@kitchencompare.com.au.
06Data security and retention
Encrypted in transit, access limited, kept only as long as needed.
Personal information is transmitted over TLS and stored with access limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep only what we need.
Enquiry records are retained for up to 24 months from the date you send them, then deleted, except where a longer period is legally required. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
07Your rights
Ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion — free, within 30 days.
You may request access to the personal information we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or complain about our handling of it.
- Access and correction requests are free and answered within 30 days.
- Deletion is honoured subject to legally required records.
- Complaints can be escalated to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
08Cookies and analytics
Necessary storage always works. Analytics and advertising permissions are your choice.
We use necessary first-party storage for security, business-portal sign-in and to remember your cookie choices. Blocking this storage may stop those features working correctly.
We use Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-8PXL0FMB8C, delivered through Google Tag Manager, container GTM-TRRZWNG9. Google Analytics helps us understand which pages are used and whether site features work. We do not send Google names, email addresses, phone numbers, enquiry messages or other directly identifying form content.
Google Consent Mode v2 defaults analytics storage, advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation to denied. You can accept, reject or manage these choices when prompted, and change them later using “Cookie preferences” in the footer. Your choice is stored in your browser.
When consent is denied, Google tags may send limited cookieless consent-status and measurement pings, but may not read or write analytics or advertising cookies. Advertising permissions may be used for Google Ads measurement if that service is enabled. We do not sell audience data.
Separately, we keep first-party records of page views and searches to improve the catalogue; these hold a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself.
09Changes and contact
We'll date any change. Email privacy@kitchencompare.com.au.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted with a revised “last updated” date, and significant changes will be flagged on the site.
